Objectives: Using Hip Hop music and other branches of Hip Hop culture to reduce and prevent the symptoms of psychological disorders of the adolescents at risk. Also helping them to gain the artistic and intellectual skills and knowledge so that they can play a part in the process of preventing psychological risks of their peers. Finally, using scientific investigation tools to evaluate and develop the project for applying in the areas with high refugee, immigrant and youth at risk populations.
Project Outline: The “Hip Hop Project In” aims to apply recently developed Integral Hip Hop Intervention methodology to prevent and reduce the risks of cognitive disorders of youth at risk. Hall) •Trauma Informed Rap Song Writing in Music Therapy •Community Music Therapy with Hip Hop •Culturally Informed Music Therapy •Dance Movement Practices with Hip Hop •Graffiti based visual arts applications.
Expected Results: Significant reduction in symptoms of psychological disorders. Increase in the target population’s interest on the artistic/intellectual expression and development. Inclusion of the target population to the local artist communities. Provision of tools and trainings to the highly interested members to become representatives and facilitators of the project in other cities and countries.
The Integral Hip Hop Intervention Methodology that is applied in Hip Hop Project In is applicable to 16 to 25 yers old adolescents at risk of psychological disorders due to traumatic experiences, social marginalization, migrant status or economic reasons.
